The West End Festival is an event that takes place every August in Sand City. Sand City is a smaller community of around three hundred residents. Most of Sand City is commercial buildings and warehouses although there are some houses and a large apartment complex. 2021 marked the 20th anniversary of this vibrant festival. Each year this event is held in order to celebrate local artists, musicians and businesses.
The festival is typically on both Saturday and Sunday. Live music is played across multiple stages from 12:00-5:30 pm. People fill the streets and surround the stages dancing to the upbeat tunes. It is a much different crown than you would find at say the Concourse D’Elegance Car Week in Carmel. Throughout the festival you will find international cuisine, beer, wine, spirits and warehouses filled with artwork. In addition, the streets are shut down and filled with tents highlighting various local businesses and artisans. One of the main points of interest next to the main stage is the brewery Post No Bills.
If you’re a fan of lively music, food trucks, support local artists and people with good energy, the West End Festival is not one to miss in August in the Monterey, CA area. Check the video below to see highlights of the event from 2021.
